Queensland constable charged with assault

A 29-year-old constable from Southern Region has been served with a notice to appear in relation to an alleged assault occasioning bodily harm whilst on duty last December involving excessive use of force towards a man.

The member has been stood down from the Queensland Police Service and is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 4 December.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”
