Associate Professor Ben Meadley ASM has been appointed to the role of Director Paramedicine at Ambulance Victoria (AV).
A MICA Flight Paramedic, Assoc Prof Meadley has a long and distinguished career with AV, spanning more than 26 years as a paramedic, educator, researcher, improvement specialist and people leader. He also contributes to the academic field through his position as Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University.
“I’m passionate about working with all areas of Ambulance Victoria to enhance the capabilities of paramedics to revolutionise the delivery of contemporary health care to our community,” said Assoc Prof Meadley.
Throughout his career, he has maintained a keen focus on the education and wellbeing of paramedics, which led him to undertake his PhD; investigating the cardiometabolic and physiological health of Australian paramedics, Ambulance Victoria said in a statement.
“The research was the first of its kind and led Monash University to launch its Paramedic Health and Wellbeing Research Unit, which continues to invest in research and projects to improve the health and wellbeing of paramedics across Australia,” it said.
“Ben has and continues to be a driving force of innovation in the education of paramedics, with a long history of academic association through Monash University, where he helped to re-design the Postgraduate Intensive Care Program.”
He will step into the role of Director Paramedicine from 29 July.
